I'm Just Sayin'...

Gripes, Opinions, and Other Crap from Frank

Another season over, but at least there's football.
Well, besides the usual made-for-TV exhibition rounds and Golf Channel coverage of a tourney somewhere in Europe, the '09 season comes to a close. Guess I'll finally get around to weatherproofing the deck and fixing the wife's truck... after I sort through my collection of used golf balls and regripping my clubs and grooving my putting stroke, of course.

Thanks Tom!
Watson, you made my year with your (near) win at the Championship. And, I know you've heard it a thousand times, but over-cooking an 8 iron over the green on the closing hole is entiely your caddy's fault, and I'm free to lug your bag next year. (I'd of handed you a 18-degree rescue and told you to "skull it".)

Lefty back on track?
Good to see Phil Mickelson striking the ball like he, me, and you knows he can, especially in light of his family unfortunates. With his big win at the Tour Championship, we all can bet he'll be kissing some iron during the 2010 season. Good luck Phil, and glad you're back!

Tiger wins $10 million.
He needed it like I need more crab grass. But, at least the loot will go to good use... like adding another heliport on his yacht.

Lions Muny Golf Course to become "mixed use" shopping mall?
I get it already... the University of Texas owns the property where the golf course sits, but they need to add some more moola to their current billions of dollars endowment. The golf course (which is located in the heart of Austin) gets the most rounds in Texas (70,000+ !), is about 80 years old --with oak trees that are about twice that age--, where Ben Crenshaw learned the game, and may even be the first desegregated golf course in the South. Hello?! How'd you like to be UT's public relations agency and deal with this horse muffin?
